Boots Back Home started as a way to bring together the weary, wild-haired, and overwhelmed defence partners navigating the chaos of relocations, deployments, and the juggle of family and work.
What began as a space to brain dump the realities of military life – the constant moves, career disruptions, and the mental load – has grown into a space for defence partners to feel seen.
We’ve lived the ‘asset’ life since 2014, first in the Police Force and now with my husband serving in the RAAF. Along the way, I’ve figured out how to build a business when opportunities were limited, find stability in the uncertainty, and create systems that make life feel just a little bit easier.
My goal is simple: to support and empower defence families with practical resources, encouragement, and connection.

I’m Amber – a mum, defence partner, and business owner who believes in the power of community, connection, and finding moments of calm in the chaos.
Supporting my husband through his police career and transition into the defence force has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of self-care – even when life feels unpredictable. Along the way, I’ve built a business, navigated relocations, and figured out how to make military life work on my own terms. Now, I use those experiences to help others do the same.
When I’m not juggling it all, you’ll find me with a coffee in hand, staring at the clouds while the washing dries (let’s be real), learning to roller skate, or dreaming up new ways to support my fellow humans. I believe in finding strength in honesty, choosing self-kindness over perfection, and creating opportunities even when the odds are stacked against you.
